About Alex

I am passionate about working with people of all ages who are experiencing any musculoskeletal problems.

My journey working in the health industry started in 1997 in Hannover, Germany when I qualified as a physiotherapist from the Dr Blindow Therapeutic College. Since then, I have worked in Germany, the UK, India and Australia.

I spent the first decade of my career working mainly in German private clinics that offered the full range of physiotherapy services from injury to orthopaedic surgery through to rehabilitation and chronic pain management as well as neurological conditions. This gave me extensive experience treating people of different age groups and a great variety of conditions.

During this time, I also gained special qualifications in Manual Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage and the Bobath concept (skills to treat people with neurological conditions).

In 2010, my partner and I followed our dream, namely, to live and work in Australia.

From then my work focus shifted to manual therapy. In 2011, I successfully completed my Diploma in Remedial Massage in the ACT and not long after joined a Canberra-based private neuro rehabilitation physiotherapy clinic where I worked in a multi-disciplinary team as a Remedial Massage Therapist and Allied Health Assistant until late 2021. This was a great opportunity for me to work with complex neurological clients and in the aged care sector.

I have now opened my own home-based clinic in Malua Bay, NSW. My aim is to offer excellent manual treatment to the community in a professional, safe and welcoming environment.

Services

Remedial massage is an umbrella term for a range of soft tissue techniques that aim to improve posture and flexibility, relieve muscle soreness and tension, prevent, or manage injury and improve performance.

Remedial massage has many more benefits such as increasing blood circulation, reducing stress levels and positively affecting the sympathetic nervous system lowering blood pressure and heart rate.

Manual therapy involves the assessment and analysis of the human body to find the source of musculoskeletal dysfunction. As your therapist I will evaluate whether your pain or dysfunction might be caused by muscle, joint, nerve or a combined problem.

The word manual originates from the Latin word manus – meaning hand.

Manual therapy is primarily a hands-on technique which uses a range of soft tissue, joint or nerve mobilisation techniques. Stretches and exercises can be part of the treatment – depending on the client’s needs.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) reduces lymph oedema and takes pressure of pain receptors.

Post-surgery treatment speeds up recovery time by decreasing swelling and increasing range of movement. It is a light manual technique using special circular and pumping strokes to stimulate the lymphatic system. It works best in combination with compression garments.

Helps with:

  • Primary and secondary Lymphoedema
  • Postoperative oedema
  • Posttraumatic oedema
  • Chronic venous insufficiency

Kinesio Tape is an elastic non-restrictive therapeutic tape. There are different techniques and methods to apply the tape depending on the indication, for example: reducing muscle pain or discomfort, increasing lymph flow, increasing muscle performance.
